As parents we want to provide
everything that will develop our kids’ creativity and talent. My eldest son,
Nathan is interested in arts, particularly drawing and coloring. A trip to the
bookstore will not be complete without taking home some art materials. He would
always request for crayons, craypas, colored pens and paper, I in turn is so
happy, because these things are not expensive compared to gadgets and toys. I probably have kept 2 gallons of crayons in
several Ziplocs hoping to use old crayons in summer for some art activities. This
February, they will be celebrating Community helpers day at school, they’ve
been interviewed by their guidance counselor and had been asked what they want
to be when they grow up, and he said he wants to be an artist. So this
wednesday, he will go to school as an artist. My baby Neo on the other hand, is
still on the exploring stage, he likes building blocks and scribbling. Whatever
kuya does, he wants to mimic. So if kuya is busy with art activity, i see to it
that Neo has his own crayons and book or paper as well.
Let us buy appropriate toys and
tools that can help our children develop creativity, praising their work would
encourage them to continue practicing and honing their craft. Our walls have so
many drawings now, I was mad until i realized it is a stage that each child
passes by. No childhood is complete without ever trying to draw on walls or
pavement. Draw all you want my children, we will just have our walls repainted
in time, your enjoyment and happiness is worth more than all the paints in the
world!
