Lola Lucing

Marriage is not just a bond of two loving individuals, it is also merging of families. Blessing, acceptance and love from both families are important because they are the foundation of character and personality of the couple and they are the ones who will help in having harmonious relationship especially in the beginning and adjusting phase of married life.
On our wedding day, Jonathan’s maternal grandmother, Lola Lucing was able to record a message for us, part of her message was “we(Jonathan and I) are a match made in heaven”, hearing those from a person who is much loved and respected by my husband is so heartwarming, and with that I felt the acceptance, blessing and love I have long been waiting to get from Jonathan’s family.
Lola, we were not able to spend time with you, but you were always remembered. Whenever we have out of town trips, Jonathan would tell his fondest childhood memory and you together with your pots and rice cooker are always included in his story.
Thank you for making my husband’s childhood happy because of the adventures you let them experience.
‘Til we meet again lola, please hug my papa for me, I know you will also watch over us just like he always do. We love you and Thank you.

Terribly Hot Monday

Yesterday was not just terribly hot, it was also an exhausting day for me. My kids had probably too much sugar, they kept on running, dancing, tumbling and playing tricks on me. I have even locked myself inside the room , I thought the ten minute break would do good, but i was so wrong, when I finally decided to open the door they were both screaming with delight and they continued to run around again and finally when they saw me holding a story book, they agreed to go inside the room and have their afternoon nap.

They slept for an hour and a half, so I was able to clean the house and prepare dinner, when they woke up, we ate pancakes I ordered earlier and they again let their energy burst. I was already complaining and even placed Joker’s poster at the doorway so they will not be able to go out the room, the trick worked for around 10 minutes and Neo was able to conquer his fear and he carried and cradled the rolled Joker poster like a baby.
Dinner came and I told them that I won’t let them have dinner anymore, i turned off the lights while they stayed inside the room with their dad. I went out the house to breathe and when I came back to announce that it is dinner time, they ran and gave me the sweetest hug.

While at the table, my eldest asked  why I let them have dinner, I answered “because I love you so much”, he kept quiet and said some heart melting words. Few minutes after dinner they are already sleeping like an angel.

Each day my emotions is on roller coaster because my kids can be alternately naughty, rude, feisty, sweet, gentle and warm so I pray for patience and strength every single day so I can cope with the stress and enjoy the task of looking after two kids. I know I should not be complaining and instead be thankful for they are healthy and smart.

Organized Closet

Being ORGANIZED can truly make a small room beautiful and relaxing, before February ends our room must be in a perfect condition even for just a day. Having two kids who rummage the closet is definitely not fun, but stressing myself over their new found joyful activity will be of no use, so I will just look at these pictures with a hope that ours would look as organized even for a day
Nathan and Neo will definitely have a grand time climbing  the shelves

Keep your promise and make your child feel special

I have promised my two sons that I will go out on a date with them. I let Nathan choose the venue, he said he wants to go to the bookstore and starbucks and for Neo, I will just take him to Jollibee. The deal was sealed with a condition that after my date with them, they will allow me and dad to leave them to their Lola or Tita so we could have a date also.

Last Saturday after dinner, we took the kids to starbucks. The dad asked Nathan if he and neo could join us, if not, they will just stay inside the car and wait for us to finish our coffee, Nathan excitedly said that they can join us. During dinner, I asked Nathan what are we going to talk about during our coffee date, he said we shall plan for his 6th birthday party. Very smart!

Yesterday, i took Nathan to the bookstore, his happy place. He's been showing everybody what I got for him. It's as if his mom is the most generous and extravagant of all!

As for Neo, Jollibee has been our constant visitor at home, but i know i must keep my promise and has to bring him to his happy place soon.

I am trying and still learning to be a good mom, i hope my kids will also feel and understand that I am and still trying to be the best for them.

Happy to be in love

Who is St Valentine and why do we celebrate 14th of February as celebration of Love? St Valentine was a young priest who officiated marriages during the time of Emperor Claudius II when young men were not allowed to get married for them to become good soldiers. Claudius learned about Valentine’s action and ordered him to death. While in prison, Valentine fell in love with his jailer’s daughter and before he was put to death he sent a missive to the girl and signed it “From your Valentine”. He was executed in February 14, 270 AC and in 496 AD Pope Gelasius declared February 14 as a day for honouring St Valentine. Flowers are usually given in this day because it symbolically means love, romance and marriage.
Last Valentine’s Day, I received a bunch of roses and a sweet handmade card from my son and on top of all that, i was serenaded by my sweet husband.
Let us celebrate love every day!

The Real Cave

Exposing our children to the wonders of nature is essential in their development. Preschool children are being taught about God’s creation at school and the best way for them to understand is by letting them experience what nature is all about. With the vast technological advancements, we sometimes neglect the essentials in life. Bring your children to the park, which is the simplest and probably cheapest way for you to teach them the wonders of nature. Letting them feel the wind breeze on their skin and taking a shed under a tree are all simple ways to appreciate the beauty of nature.
the youngest to go inside the cave that day, nice one Neo!

Last year, we were able to bring the kids to the Underground Cave at Puerto Princesa, Palawan, it was such a wonderful experience for all of us, you just need to use your imagination as the boatman flashes light to the walls of the cave to be able to see formations such as the face of Jesus Christ, last supper and different vegetables. What’s most amazing about it is it is formed naturally and not made by man; it truly belongs to the 7 Wonders of Nature.

I have been wanting to bring Nathan and Neo to the most beautiful zoo I have ever been, I hope this year, we could take them there. Taking our children to places makes us all happy and it is also very educational because they get to experience the beauty of God’s creation and learn in their own little way how to take good care of all the blessings and richness God has provided for us.

Creativity and kids

As parents we want to provide everything that will develop our kids’ creativity and talent. My eldest son, Nathan is interested in arts, particularly drawing and coloring. A trip to the bookstore will not be complete without taking home some art materials. He would always request for crayons, craypas, colored pens and paper, I in turn is so happy, because these things are not expensive compared to gadgets and toys.  I probably have kept 2 gallons of crayons in several Ziplocs hoping to use old crayons in summer for some art activities. This February, they will be celebrating Community helpers day at school, they’ve been interviewed by their guidance counselor and had been asked what they want to be when they grow up, and he said he wants to be an artist. So this wednesday, he will go to school as an artist. My baby Neo on the other hand, is still on the exploring stage, he likes building blocks and scribbling. Whatever kuya does, he wants to mimic. So if kuya is busy with art activity, i see to it that Neo has his own crayons and book or paper as well.
Let us buy appropriate toys and tools that can help our children develop creativity, praising their work would encourage them to continue practicing and honing their craft. Our walls have so many drawings now, I was mad until i realized it is a stage that each child passes by. No childhood is complete without ever trying to draw on walls or pavement. Draw all you want my children, we will just have our walls repainted in time, your enjoyment and happiness is worth more than all the paints in the world!

i love you  much more nathan!

Neo, wants to make it perfect
nice bonding
